Airbag Repair Los Angeles

JC's Auto Repair Shop is an airbag repair shop in Los Angeles, located at 4730 Valley Blvd #B, Los Angeles, CA 90032. We diagnose airbag warning lights, replace deployed airbags, reset SRS modules after a collision, and repair seat belts and pretensioners, on cars, SUVs, and trucks of every make.

An airbag system is the one part of your vehicle you hope never to use and cannot afford to have fail. When the SRS warning light is on, the system is typically disabled, which means your airbags and seat belt pretensioners may not deploy in a crash. That is not a warning you can drive around with the way you might with a minor engine code. It is the difference between a restraint system that protects you and one that does nothing at all.

Airbag work also attracts a lot of shortcuts. Plenty of operations will clear the light and hand the car back, which leaves you with a dark dashboard and a system that is still inert. We do not work that way. We diagnose what the module is actually reporting, address the components that failed, and only then restore the system so the light goes out because the fault is gone, not because the code was erased.

If your air bag light is on, or your airbags deployed in an accident, call JC's Auto Repair Shop at 323 792 1777 or visit our Contact Us page to book an SRS inspection.

Airbag Light Diagnosis and SRS Scanning

The airbag warning light is the system telling you it has found a fault and shut itself down. The cause could be a failed clock spring in the steering column, a seat occupancy sensor, a corroded connector under a seat, a low voltage event, or crash data stored after an impact. Because a generic code reader often cannot see the SRS system properly, we scan it with equipment that reads the airbag module directly and tells us what the fault actually is before anyone quotes a repair. This is where every honest airbag job starts.

Deployed Airbag Replacement

After a collision, replacing a deployed airbag is only part of the work. The driver and passenger airbags, the steering wheel or dashboard components that housed them, the impact sensors, and often the seat belt pretensioners all need assessment, because they operate as one system and frequently deploy together. We replace deployed airbags with components that meet safety standards and verify the whole restraint system afterward, rather than fitting a bag and leaving the rest untested. This work often runs alongside auto body and collision repair, and we coordinate with that side of the job when your vehicle needs both.

Airbag Module Reset and SRS Module Programming

When a vehicle detects an impact, the airbag control module writes crash data to protected memory and locks itself. Until that data is cleared, the system stays disabled no matter how many new airbags are fitted, and ordinary scan tools cannot erase it. We handle that reset properly and restore the module to its working state. Our dedicated airbag and SRS module reset service covers the crash data and hard code side of this work in more detail if that is specifically what your vehicle needs.

Seat Belt and Pretensioner Repair

Seat belts are part of the same restraint system as your airbags, and they are frequently overlooked. Pretensioners are pyrotechnic devices that fire in a crash to pull the belt tight, and once fired they are spent and will hold an SRS fault until they are dealt with. Beyond that, we repair belts that will not retract, buckles that do not latch or release reliably, and belts that lock up during normal driving. A seat belt that does not retract properly is a daily annoyance that also compromises how the belt performs in an impact, and it is a far smaller job than most people assume.

Airbag Sensor and Clock Spring Repair

Impact sensors sit at the front and sides of the vehicle and tell the module when to deploy. A damaged sensor or a broken wire in that circuit will disable the system and keep the light on. The clock spring, which maintains the electrical connection to the driver airbag while the steering wheel turns, is another common failure point and often shows up alongside horn or steering wheel control problems. Both faults are electrical at heart, which is why our auto electrical repair and maintenance capability matters for airbag work. We also handle related safety electronics such as backup camera and sensor installation.

Airbag Inspection Before You Buy a Used Car

A used vehicle with a disabled airbag system looks identical to one with a working system until you scan it. Cars that have been through an accident and repaired cheaply sometimes have the light hidden rather than the system repaired, and occasionally the airbags were never replaced at all. If you are buying privately or from a small lot, an SRS check is worth doing, and our pre-purchase vehicle inspection covers exactly this.

Signs Your Airbag System Needs Repair

The most obvious sign is the SRS or air bag warning light staying lit after startup. Every vehicle briefly illuminates it during the self test, and it should go out within a few seconds. If it stays on, flashes in a pattern, or comes on while you are driving, the system has logged a fault and has most likely shut down.

After an accident, the light staying on is close to a certainty if the airbags deployed, because the module is holding crash data. Less obviously, the light can also come on after a minor impact where nothing deployed at all, since the sensors may have registered the event even though the threshold for deployment was not reached. Either way the system needs attention before it will arm again.

Some faults have nothing to do with a collision. A light that appears after a dead or replaced battery often traces to a low voltage event. A light that comes and goes, especially after the seats have been moved or something was installed under them, usually points to a loose or corroded connector. A light that appears along with a horn that has stopped working, or steering wheel buttons that no longer respond, frequently indicates a failed clock spring.

Finally, a scan showing SRS or B-series fault codes, or a warning message such as crash data stored or module locked, means the system needs a proper reset rather than a code clear. If a warning light is on and you are not sure whether it is the SRS light or something else entirely, our check engine light diagnostic service can identify which system is reporting the problem.

If your vehicle has been in a collision and is not safe to drive, our emergency auto repair and roadside assistance and towing services can bring it to us.

Airbag Repair Across Los Angeles

Our shop is in the 90032 area on Valley Blvd, which puts us within easy reach of most of central, eastern, and western Los Angeles. We see airbag and SRS customers from Glendale, Pasadena, Alhambra, and East Los Angeles on the east side, from Downtown Los Angeles, Silver Lake, and Los Feliz nearby, from Culver City and Westwood on the west side, and from Torrance, Inglewood, and Long Beach in the South Bay. We are happy to explain the diagnosis and the estimate in whichever language you are most comfortable with.

Why Choose Our Airbag Repair Shop in Los Angeles

We fix the fault rather than the symptom. Clearing an airbag light without resolving what caused it produces a car that looks fine and protects nobody, and we will not do it. If the only thing you want is the light off, we will tell you plainly why that is not something we are willing to sell you.

We treat the restraint system as one system. Airbags, seat belts, pretensioners, sensors, and the control module work together, and a repair that addresses only the obvious part tends to come back. When we have the vehicle apart, we check the related components rather than leaving a known spent part in place for you to discover later.

Estimates are given upfront and explained in plain language, with no hidden fees. Our technicians are background checked and drug tested, we offer same-day appointments where the schedule allows, and we are reachable around the clock for emergencies. If you are working with an insurance claim after a collision, we can talk you through what the restraint system portion of the repair involves.
